Alassio – Chiesa di Sant’Anna English

A few hundred meters from the church of Santa Croce , in the vegetation of cypress and eucalyptus trees, you reach the church of Sant’Anna ai Monti . Tradition has it that this is a very old church , built even before the thousand . In fact there are still some elements on the period of its foundation that could be linked to the presence of a small settlement inhabited in this area , a ravine very close to the sea , but at the same time also well hidden and protected . The church has an irregular shape and has certainly suffered a setback of the facade. From the seventeenth century it was used for agriculture and other premises were built along the upstream side . St. Anne was restored in the seventies of the twentieth century . Today you can still see parts of frescoes of the late fifteenth century / early sixteenth century , plastered after the Council of Trent , and now unfortunately much ruined .
